RAVELLO, ITALY
Ravello is a small town in the Amalfi coast of Italy, set 1,200 feet above the Tyrrhenian Sea. Famous for its cliffside gardens and stunning views, Ravello's villas and vistas have enchanted visitors for centuries. Many famous actors, authors, composers, and artists have come here for refuge and inspiration. A popular local story holds that when the devil wanted to tempt Christ with the wonders of the world, he took him to Ravello. There are 3 miles of twisty mountain roads from the coastal town of Amalfi before you reach Ravello nestled in the hills. It is a quiet town, and in a good location to visit other areas of the Amalfi coast such as Pompeii, Sorrento, Positano, Capri, Scala, Amalfi, Minori and Maiori, to name a few. There are cafes, restaurants, shops and bars in the the main square of Ravello and most hotels also have their own bars and restaurants.

TRAVEL TIPS
AIRPORT
The two major airports that service the Amalfi coast region are Naples (NAP) and Rome (FCO). Direct flights from the United States are only available to Rome.
PASSPORT
Please check your passports to make sure they are not expired or set to expire at any time in 2022! Most countries will not permit a traveler to enter their country if the traveler's passport is set to expire within 6 months after the final day of travel. If you need to get an updated passport, it can take up to 10-12 weeks to receive one, so be sure to apply early enough. We have heard that this process can be significantly expedited if you book a ticket for international travel and show proof of such ticket in connection with your passport renewal application.
COVID-19
Travel to Italy: Fully-vaccinated (2 doses + booster) travelers are free to enter Italy without any restriction. Vaccinated (2 doses, no booster) travelers are free to enter Italy if they have received the vaccine within the previous 9 months. Non-vaccinated travelers must show either (A) recovery from COVID-19 within the last 6 months, (B) a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival in Italy, or (C) a negative rapid test taken within 48 hours prior to arrival in Italy.
Travel Back to the United States: The United States requires a negative antigen COVID-19 test taken 72 hours prior to arrival in the United States. The great news is that tests are available at any farmacia (pharmacy) in Italy, which farmacias are as plentiful as CVS and Walgreens in the United States. We will update this as new (hopefully lessened) restrictions are issued.
CAR RENTAL
We do not recommend renting a car for the duration of the wedding, as you will not need one once you arrive in Ravello. Ravello is a small town and you can walk to any location within the town. There is also limited parking within the town limits.
GETTING AROUND ITALY
The premier form of travel in Italy (and generally, Europe), is by train. Buses are also a major mode of public transportation, and big cities likes Rome and Milan have ride-share apps like Uber. There are also cabs/taxis. But for big travel (i.e., from Rome to Naples), trains are the European way!
GETTING AROUND AMALFI COAST
Click on this link for plenty of details on the buses that run between the towns in the Amalfi coast and also for how to get to Ravello from wherever you are coming from. Trains and buses on the Amalfi coast are quite inexpensive. For example, the train from Naples to Salerno is €6.
GETTING TO RAVELLO
The easiest ways to get to Ravello are by flying to Rome or Naples and (A) hiring private transfer to Ravello or (B) if you fly into Rome (or anywhere in Italy besides Naples), by taking a Trenitalia Frecciarossa (train) to Naples (west of Ravello) or Salerno (east of Ravello) and hiring private transfer to Ravello from there. Simply sit back, relax and enjoy the views. Bus transportation is also available for those seeking a more local experience. And for the daring, car rentals are available in both Naples and Salerno, though once you arrive in Ravello, you will no longer require a car.

PRIVATE APARTMENTS, HOMES AND BED & BREAKFASTS
In addition to hotels, Ravello offers a number of charming private apartments, homes, villas, and bed & breakfast accommodations for your booking pleasure through your favorite travel booking websites, including Booking.com, AirBnb and VRBO.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON ACCOMMODATIONS:
Please be sure to check the walking distance from your accommodations to Villa Cimbrone. Ravello is a historic and a nearly exclusively pedestrian town resting upon a mountain buttress, so we recommend accommodations within the ancient city walls that will offer you the most convenient accessibility to our wedding festivities. We do not recommend booking outside the city walls for the simple fact that returning home late at night may pose to be challenging due to limited car service in Ravello.
*Ravello hotels do not offer "room blocks". Please book the accommodations of your choosing at your earliest convenience to ensure availability.
